Tackling Your Shared Drive

Does your departmental shared drive resemble a junk drawer? This workshop will equip participants with the means necessary to sort through existing folders and create a new, sustainable structure for effective departmental use. Topics such as electronic records management, security, records disposal and naming conventions will be but a few of the items discussed in the workshop. Most importantly, the workshop will detail key points relating to a shared drives structure's importance in regards to the university records retention schedule.

Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this module, participants will:

  • Understand the recommended process for analyzing current shared drive issues
  • Know the steps for creating a sustainable shared drive layout
  • Be able to see how shared drive structures can help with adherence to university policies

To register for the online training session please register via the following steps:

  1. Log into Campus Connect
  2. Navigate to For Employees
    • Select Self Service
    • Select Learning and Development
    • Select Request Training Enrollment
    • Search by Course Name (Your Shared Drive (Online)) or Course Number (ESD001)
    • Choose View Available Sessions
    • Click the Session number (There should only be one listed. Disregard the start date.)
    • Select "Submit"
  3. Verification of your enrollment will be sent by e-mail from Workplace Learning and Performance
  4. Records Management will send you the direct link to the full Tackling Your Shared Drive video once you’ve completed registration.
